Thank You, My Friend

Thank you for being my friend
For helping me find my feet when I couldn’t stand
For being there for a girl like me
Even though you didn’t have to be

Thank you for being amazing
For all the kind words you just kept giving
For being there for me
Even though you barely had time to be

Thank you for conversations in the snow
For trust you placed in me
And I just wanted to let you know
You’ve meant the world to me and more

Thank you for being my friend
Thank you for letting me lean on you every now and then
Thank you for teaching me to trust again
Thank you for being the best of men

The Girl In Jeans And Ballerina Shoes

She walks down the street in jeans and ballerina shoes
She pirouettes at every corner of the quiet boulevard
In the shade of an old oak tree she whistles the blues
An old man turns around to stares at her, but she just smile and laughs

She walks down the beach, jeans folded up and shoes in hand
She picks up seashells under the pier where no one ever goes
In the breaking waves she stops to watch the sun set over the land
A young man walks past and doesn't stop, even to glance

She walks under the moon in jeans and ballerina shoes
She looks at the stars and and wishes for a friend to hold her hand
In her thoughts she flies away to a place where no one can ever lose
A cat meows softly from behind a window pane as she walks by

She walks into the house closer to morning than night
And falls into her bed and dreams about men who sing and smile

Gargoyle Smile

Deep inside a dark snowy forest on a mountain high
Stands a cathedral of memories that refuse to die
There’s a tomb there which whispers the tune of you and I
Meet me there when time is through, when life is gone and lovers cry

All I’ve got left for you is a gargoyle smile
Under the moon in cathedrals wide
All I’ve got left for you is a gargoyle smile
Take my tears and hide them well until I die

Deep inside the cathedral of lies
Is a promise that was forgotten by the wise
Frown not if you won’t drop your lonesome disguise
For I know you true and well, we’ve met before, you and I

All I have for you is a gargoyle smile
Under moon and clouds in the forest wild
All I have for you is a gargoyle smile
Take my tears and let me hide

A Daughter

Silver laughter in a corner finding my ears so delicately
Soft little fingers over my forehead soothing the pain and the grief
Little silent angel so undemanding and lovingly setting me free
Dreams of a little bird made of childhood songs you never could be

Just a memory of daughter, a daughter that could be
A splendid excuse for another day in this bed beside the dreams of
A daughter

Small gentile feet running down the pathway through daisies and green grass
Early mornings with tea in your hand and that child sitting in your lap
Little dancing fairy dancing in the midsummer and finding her way to your arms
Dreams of a small spell with power and passion of a childhood you never could be

Just a memory of a daughter, a daughter that could be
A splendid excuse for another day in this garden inside the dreams of
A daughter

Universe wrapping around
sacred spiral dance
Universe singing out loud
sacred time, rebirth of a daughter

Just a silent memory, just a daughter that possibly could be
A splendid excuse to stay in this naked truthful moment that is
The dream of a daughter
